Ingredients

  • 1 package Kraft Caramels (14 ounces)
  • 5 Popsicle or Bamboo Lollipop Sticks
  • 5 Granny Smith Apples
  • Candy Decorations (candy eyeballs, mini M&M's, candy sprinkles, candy corn, mini chocolate chips)
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples
  2. Remove the stem if there is one
  3. Starting from the top of the apple, poke the popsicle or bamboo lollipop stick through the middle of the apple
  4. Step back and look to make sure the stick is centered and not leaning off to one side
  5. If it’s leaning just remove the stick and try again
  6. Set the apples aside.Next, on a large plate add a sheet of parchment paper and set aside
  7. Unwrap the caramels and add them to a medium size pan (don’t turn the heat on yet)
  8. Once all of the caramels are in the pan, add the water and turn the heat on low to medium
  9. Continuously stir
  10. If the caramel starts to bubble turn the heat down just a bit
  11. Continue to stir until the caramels are completely melted
  12. Then hold one of the apples by the stick over the pan and spoon the caramel over the top of the apple
  13. Next tilt the pan slightly and dip all sides of the apple in the caramel
  14. Use the spoon to remove the excess caramel from the bottom, and lay the caramel coated apple on the parchment paper
  15. Repeat the process for the remaining apples.As soon as all of the apples are coated add the candy decorations
  16. The caramel dries quickly so you may have to push them into the caramel to stick
  17. If the candies aren’t sticking, melt some of the chocolate chips and drizzle or dab the chocolate on the apple
  18. Then sprinkle the candies over the chocolate.To make a funny face, use the rounded edge of a dinner knife to shape a smile and the lips, eyes, or nose
  19. As soon as the caramel apples are decorated, put them in the refrigerator so the candies and funny faces don't slide.Serve at room temperature.
